Art Education

As an Art educator, I encourage in my students an awareness of a global community that allows for constructive and collaborative learning. I am an advocate for life-long learning and I think art education is the perfect means to gain a love for knowledge, not only through one perspective but also through different worldviews. I believe in applying technology-based and arts-based strategies that involve active meaningful and constructive learning – making knowledge-connections as well as participatory/social interactions in and outside the classroom.

The images shown here include collaborations with a middle school Spanish teacher, workshops at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas, Summer Camps for dual language students and a visit to the MFAH, undergraduate students' artworks -non-art and art majors in Mexico and Denton, TX. I included examples of students' works taking classes in El Arroyo Mexico (bookbinding, ceramics, and drawing classes), high school art students' work, as well as images from some of the teen programs that I managed at the Dallas Museum of Art.
